From my comfy seat on the bed with new book in lap I am interrupted by a semi-loud, constant, nagging droplet of water coming from the nearby bathroom. It is the result of a leaky pipe underneath the sink. I can pinpoint the exact moment and source of this drip.
Hubby and I were in update the house mode when we decided to purchase a beautiful brushed nickel faucet, one that was a major upgrade from our previous piece of hardware.
After an initial attempt to install the new faucet, hubby realized he’d need some new connectors/pipes/tubes (whatever you call them). Saturday afternoon we paid a quick visit to the local True Value Hardware store, where I discovered something fascinating about the male species.
The connectors (and I’m guessing many of the other products in the store) were organized in three categories: good, better, and best. This type of sales approach would never work in a woman’s store. We are drawn to pretty packaging, cool names, fragrant aromas, special lighting, etc. We have commercials and magazine advertisements to remind us that we need these things. Men, poor men, just have “good,” “better,” and “best.”
After about 10 seconds, hubby and I decided that our house was only “good,” therefore it only deserved the “good” connector part under the sink. We weren’t convinced that a “better” or “best” piece would translate to our “good” house. Plus it gave us an excuse to be cheap. We also bought a new air filter and a tube of caulk, a product I find much joy talking about while in the hardware store.
Even though the new faucet was indeed beautiful, it ends up the “good” connectors weren’t good enough for our sink/faucet/house. The drip eventually became a waterfall of sorts and had high aspirations of flooding the bathroom. Hubby thinks the faucet is the problem. Either way, the drip will serve as a reminder that sometimes “good” is just bad.

Oh how I feel your pain. Plumbing problems are the WORST!!! I'm happy to see you didn't go with that all metal snake hose though. Even though I think it's pretty expensive, it's actually not the best! I hope it's not the faucet, good luck :)
That is a beautiful faucet. I understand the annoyance of dripping water. Because it's stayed around -5 to -15 for several weeks here our landlady has told us to run the water in the kitchen and bathrooms constantly. Now regardless of where I am in the house I can hear dripping water and it's starting to get to me!
