You guys are very sweet. Thank you. My lens is something like 70-300mm. So not super long. But I stood inside the kitchen – it has a window that faces the bird feeder. The feeder is about 8 feet away from the window. Immediately the birds flew away when I opened the window. But I walked away for about 10 minutes. When I came back to the window, they had all returned as well, and at that point they didn't notice me nor my camera snapping photos.
I am a 29-year-old wife of a chef and mother of a little boy and girl, 2 cats and a dog. I have lived in Durham for 6 years, before that, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Morganton, Poughkeepsie, New York, and Johnson City, Tennessee. I love to travel and experience customs unlike ours here in America. I love to photograph all of my experiences, new and old, and am pleased that I can do that for a living. I am also a writer and graphic designer in the Triangle area. My passions are photography, writing, eating, dancing, singing, cats, traveling, hiking, scrapbooking, chocolate, wine, talking, listening, movies, books, clothes, my husband. Did I leave anything out?

Great shots! How were you able to get close, any secrets?
I agree - great shots! Did you actually get close or do you have one of those crazy super-zoom lenses like my sister-in-law?
