Never skip breakfast

We've all been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I've always been pretty good about ensuring I eat a full meal each morning, especially while I was pregnant. I would make a veggie, cheese, and avocado omelet, eat an entire grapefruit, and then have a side of buttered toast all in ten minutes time. I was constantly scared that I might find myself away from the house and famished, so I always ate a ginormous meal before leaving the house.
Now that the baby is here things have indeed changed. It is all about when baby wants to eat. I definitely thought it would be easier to get a breakfast in each morning. Sometimes I don't eat until noon. Because a hungry Melanie equals a cranky Melanie, I've picked up the bad habit of inhaling processed foods whenever possible. I keep a stash of fruit leather and granola bars in my purse constantly.
Here is a typical breakfast for me these days.

A granola bar, sometimes an apple, and hot buttered cheesy grits (for special occasions like when I find 10 free minutes).

Some mornings, hubby is home with me and we are able to eat breakfast together. These mornings are delightful. With an extra set of hands anything is possible. Sometimes I even get coffee on these mornings. But lately I've been suggesting we visit Guglhupf in Durham and pick up some fresh flaky croissants.

On these blissful mornings, my breakfast is more of a feast. A hot croissant, delicious scrambled eggs prepared by hubby, and a side of grapes – made possible because there was time to wash them. Oh how I wish hubby was home every day!
