Snakehead

I regret to inform that my son Caleb has recently become a member of a gang. His gang name is Snakehead and the gang's trademark look is wearing their hair greasy and spiked.

All joking aside, my son has much better judgment than to join a gang, but his nickname is now indeed Snakehead. He has a mild case of what pediatrician's call Cradle Cap. Basically it is peeling skin on the top of a baby's head and is a very common condition. Caleb has not seemed to take notice of his scaly scalp though it drives me bonkers. My fingers are drawn to the flakes like the peeling skin of a bad sunburn.
The pediatrician recommended I apply baby oil (or even olive oil) to his scalp to help soften the flakes, then brush to loosen them from his head. Afterward, we must bathe to clean the oil off of his little head and use an anti-dandruff shampoo. It has sort of become a fun ritual and I feel like a masseuse or hairdresser, though I don't plan on quitting my day job.

Me too Melissa, I miss him and he has really changed since I last sew him in person. I can hardly wait to visit at Thanksgiving.

Oh my god... I remember when my brother had cradle cap.. and no matter where we were (out to eat for instance) I couldn't resist picking his head. My mom tried to get me to stop (at least in public) but I was addicted and could not be stopped. I have several very very vivid memories of it.
