But come the day after Thanksgiving I am free to dance about the house in holiday glory, screaming out Christmas tunes. We have made it our tradition to get a Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and to decorate it promptly. We drink festive beer, listen to all the holiday music I can get my paws on, and put ornaments on the tree and other goodies throughout the house. This year I even got to set up a Christmas village (a tradition that goes way back in my family, though I think my mom only had one set up for my amusement).

The cats can't get enough of the tree, though we have learned long ago to not place any ornaments near the bottom branches, lest we want the cats to destroy them.

Your pictures are so good...brings me back to the Friday evening that I enjoyed in your home...when the Christmas spirit was alive with childlike anticipation and the songs of the season were filling the air.
Your Christmas village is lovely. I almost threw mine out a few years back when I was moving to Durham and my mom convinced me to keep it in case I ever had kids. I'm glad I did. I know Caleb and Lily will enjoy all the lights and wonder.
Your Christmas village far surpasses ours. It is beautiful! And no, I did not just do it for your amusement, as the tradition goes back to Cuba and my childhood there. However, the tradition of playing Christmas music while decorating does start with me.
Where did you get those beautiful village pieces? I love it! I cannot wait to put our tree up and blare some Christmas tunes. Bryce is excited too.
I'm happy that I'm able to play Christmas music and be fairly well tolerated as soon as it snows. Towards the end of November I was doing it every night and having a fire, and Tim finally did suggest that maybe we could listen to something else.
