Mission accomplished...sort of

For months hubby and I have been excited about the prospect of baby Caleb rolling over. As parents, we are constantly being asked about our baby's "milestones."
"Does he have any teeth yet?"
No.
"Is he sleeping through the night?"
Yes.
"Has he rolled over yet?"
No.
I think these questions being asked only puts pressure on the parents; the babies aren't the ones concerned here – they are happy as clams discovering new things every day. Don't get me wrong, milestones are tons of fun to talk about! I thoroughly enjoy baby talk.
But I can't get the fact that Caleb hasn't rolled over yet off my brain. I know he is doing just fine developmentally. Pediatricians say that as long as the baby is advancing in some form or fashion, achieving new goals and finding interest in new things, then there is nothing to worry about. And Caleb most certainly is doing just that.

In fact, it seems he skipped rolling over and jumped straight to sitting up on his own. This is a very recent accomplishment.

And he is still extremely wobbly.

We have to spread his legs apart fairly wide to create a nice sturdy base for him.

Sometimes he folds over forward. I think it must take a lot of strength for the little guy, so he tires easily.

He frequently loses his balance and we have to keep a careful watch over him.

It is easy to see when a fall is imminent. Caleb begins leaning to one side.

The lean becomes stronger.

And then - boom! He crashes down on the carpet with a soft tumble.

We let him tip over and learn to fall softly and then eventually give up and move him onto his belly for tummy time.

I love doing strength training with my baby boy!
