A pretty bad week

Last week was not what you'd call a good week. I was stressed for various reasons and began the week with a massive splitting headache, a sore-throat, and a 101-degree fever. I stayed home from work – as you already know from my previous post – and napped the whole day long. The following day I felt good enough to go to work, experiencing only slight chills, a heavy-duty headache, a sore-throat, and the aforementioned stress throughout the day. I went to the doctor and was told my viral infection would run its course.

The following evening while out with friends, I began to itch. It was subtle at first. Scratching behind my ears, behind my kneecap, at the base of my scalp, along my side. I calmly excused myself and went to the restroom. I peeked under my clothes to find an angry, swelling red patch of hives all over my body.

The back of my legs were full of flaming, raised hives.

My side became a canvas for a traveling patch of burning hives.

The hives were everywhere. My friend Misty, who is also my go-to doctor on call, took one look at the hives (which were symmetrical all along my body) and told me to take 2 Benedryl and a Claritin and call it a night. (The drug selection for nursing mothers is very limited).

I awoke the next morning hive-free. I traded hives for a sore-throat and laryngitis. The laryngitis continued through Friday when I awoke with my eyes swollen shut and crusty. Yummy, I know. I took one look in the mirror and decided that I possibly had pink eye.

I went to work and then visited the doctor on my lunchbreak, where I was told that yes I had pink eye and no, don't return to work.

To top it all off, I looked down at the imprint my behind left behind while sitting on the doctor's table and my oh my wasn't it large! So I have a case of too-much-booty to add to my already lengthy list of ailments.

So here's to a better week!

You documented this bad situation so that is has humor, well as promoting in me a sigh for all your discomfort. I hope you have had your bout with feeling bad for 2010.
